Poetry Activity

I was given the task to create a double page spread illustration that represents my chose poem. The poem that I've chosen is about an Otter attempting to catch some fish. 

To start off with, I made a couple of thumbnail sketches so that I could work out the composition of the illustration and the text. Also, I tried to see which illustration would work best.

Afterwards, I made an extended version of one of the thumbnails in the size of A5. For mediums, I decided to use coloured pencils and a posca pen. 

I think that this piece of work is successful because I've linked my illustration to the poem and I've given the otter a personality. However, I do think that it could be improved by scanning the illustration and adding colour and text digitally.
