Project 2 : Addressing Autism- Camouflage Developed

Image
Since I found out some facts from my previous research. I want to address how adults with autism use camouflaging. For this piece of work, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and experiment with different ways of communicating an idea. Here I have presented experimenting with collage. I've gathered leaves together and taken a photo. With this image, I have have scanned it into Photoshop with my character design and used the overlay setting. Gradually, I did erase the background but to make camouflaging work, you need the background to match, so I might try incorporating that back in.  For my next stages, I am going to continue producing different illustrations and applying the the uses of traditional illustration and collage.

Animal Testing Project: Patterns

Image
I have continued developing my designs by combining illustrations together. I have used Illustrator and Photoshop to apply colour to the illustrations and to make patterns. I'm going to continue with these designs as I am considering making them into posters for campaigns such as the PeTA. Therefore, for the next stages I need to start applying text alongside my images. Project 2: Addressing Autism: Camouflaging Sketches

Image
I have continued to think about the fact that reveals how adults with autism use camouflaging. These sketches and notes show how I'm considering portraying this fact. The notes in my sketchbook link to the idea of how I could show the uses of camouflaging. I have considered making a character that is covered in leaves. To develop this idea even further, I have thought about experimenting and using a mixture of illustration and collage. I am going to consider to draw more designs to see if I can think of any other ideas.

Animal Testing Project: Rabbit Illustration in colour

Image
I've scanned my illustrations into Photoshop and applied colour to them. I'm happy with the colour scheme and I think it's successful as I've kept it limited so viewers don't get distracted by too many bold colours. I am now going to use these illustrations on Photoshop to make some pattern designs.  To improve my work, I think I could try adding tone to my illustrations and showing evidence of experimenting with different colour schemes.

Project 2: Addressing Autism- Camouflaging Thumbnails

For this piece of work, I have taken one of the facts that I had found previously and I've tried exploring it through visuals. The fact that I've chosen is about how many adults with Autism use the uses of camouflaging to copying others who are not on the spectrum.  I've made some thumbnails that show different ways on how this fact could be presented. I think that they are successful because I'm trying show how a person may feel when trying to hide their Autism. However, I do think that these designs could be altered to make sure that the designs are clearly communicated for audiences. When developing my ideas, I will eventually apply colour. I would like to extend my designs and I have got some more ideas.

Letterpress Session:

I've had a letterpress session where I learnt about the process and I was bale to produce my own outcomes. I chose my own sentence and formed it by individually picking each letter that I needed. Each letter needed to be flipped the wrong way round and it needed to be upside down. This was done so that when it was printed, the letters would be facing the right way when being printed.  I enjoyed this session as I have now learnt a new skill. I'm going to be developing on this skill as I have another letterpress workshop.

Project 2: Addressing Autism- Camouflaging Research

I have continued doing some more research for my second project. Based on my previous research about Autism, I found out some interesting facts. The main fact that interested me was how there are many adults with Autism who use 'camouflaging' and copy other peoples behaviours who are not on the spectrum.  I've continued with this research and found out more facts about 'camouflaging. I've found these other facts from a different web article that's called 'The costs of camouflaging autism'. Facts: A trick that someone has used to camouflage their autism is by looking between a persons eyes during conversation so it appears that they are giving them eye contact.  Boys have been recognised with more with autism than girls. "Clinicians don't always think of autism when they see girls who are quiet or appear to be struggling socially." "Boys with autism might be overactive or appear to misbehave, girls more often seem anxious or depressed....

Animal Testing: Sketches

Image
I have now used my research as inspiration so that I can start to develop some ideas/designs.  I have used facts that I've found on websites such as the PeTA and the RSPCA.  To begin with, I've lightly made some sketches in pencil and drawn my illustrations at a small scale. I've done this because my sketches will have to be developed even further later on. A few of these sketches can be improved. Such as: the rabbit illustration on the first image. The size of the needle needs to be scaled up so that it looks more intimidating. Also, I think the expression on the rabbits face could be exaggerated more.  As I'm focusing on how animals are tested on for cosmetics, I've drawn a mixture of animal and make-up sketches. On the final image, I've combined the two elements together as there is a design of a rabbits head on a mascara wand. I thought that would be a successful spot illustration.  I now need to continue developing my ideas/ designs by drawing more illustra...

Project 2: Addressing Autism Research

Image
Research: I've started my research for my second project that is focusing on addressing Autism. As I'm not sure what my final outcome is going to look like yet. I've looked at existing pieces of work that can be used as inspiration. So far I have watched animations and read web articles.  The first piece of work is an animation that provides a brief summary about Autism. I think that this piece is effective as the characters within the animation clearly communicate the feelings that a person with Autism may be feeling. Therefore, this animation is communicating the experience.  The next piece of work that I found is another animation. It is called ' Amazing Things Happen.' The creator has targeted this animation for educational purposes. The creator stated how they noticed at their child's school that wasn't enough useful awareness material in the classroom about children with Autism. They have stated...

Animal Testing: Cruelty Free Make-up Mood Board:

Image
I have now started to gather examples of cruelty free make-up brands. Alongside these images, I've put together their colour palettes so that it will be made into a mood board. There are a mixture of bold and neutral colour schemes and both make the packaging effective and unique. As a lot of brand use simple uses of colour and designs, I do like the designs I've found as they give the brand it's own personality.  I'm now going to use this research as inspiration when I consider my own colour palettes for my own designs.
